Kalank Box-Office Collection, Day 4: Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt Starrer Crosses The 50 Crore Mark
The 4th day box-office business of Varun and Alia starrer Kalank is quite decent and helps the film cross the 50 crore mark
After heavy promotions, Karan Johar’s much-awaited film, Kalank released on April 17. The movie registered the highest box-office opening for 2019 with Rs 21.60 crore, and maintained the pace on day 2, which was a Thursday by minting Rs 11.45 crore. Then, on day 3 too, the film did a fairly good business of Rs 11.6 crore. Now, on its fourth day, Kalank has gone on to collect Rs 9.25 crore. Considering the fact that it was a Saturday, the numbers should have been a bit more on the higher side, as we notice the dip in comparison to the Friday business, which was a holiday on account of Good Friday.
The overall business of Kalank so far stands at Rs 51.50 crore and while one may feel it’s good news, but a movie of this stature, should have crossed the 50 crore mark in the first 3 days itself. Looking at the slight drop on Saturday, there seems little chance for the business to grow on Sunday. The five-day weekend should stand at over Rs 60 crore nett. The movie will recover its cost, but it can’t be said if it will go on to become a superhit at the box-office.

There have been mixed reviews for the film. Our SpotboyE.com Editor Vickey Lalwani rated Kalank 3 stars and wrote, "What I missed was the unpredictability in the story. When you have such a big cast staring at you, one is bound to expect a lot of twists and turns like in K3G, KHNH, K2H2 and KANK which take you by surprise. Sadly, that is missing here, perhaps because Abhishek Varman (director) rolls out the story in a very step-by-step way. Visually a treat packed with strong performances from most actors. The climax scene, in particular, will remain in your memory for a long time. It is patiently and beautifully shot, you feel for the characters and Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt excel in that frame."
